Frank Nevel Coops

Sergeant Frank Nevel Coops was born in Alderley, son of Henry and Jane Coops.

He enlisted in the 11th Battalion of the Cheshire Regiment, “D” Company, on 22/10/1907  age 19.  Service No: 8676.

He married Alice Ann Taylor of Hawthorn View, Lindow in 1915.

Served in Secunderabad in India for eight years and was later transferred to the Expeditionary Force in France on 16/01/1915.

He was killed in action in France on 17/07/1916, aged 28.  He is buried in Puchvilliers British Cemetery near Amiens in Grave Ref: IE 15.

He was awarded the 1914-15 Star for service in France or Flanders between 23 November 1914 and 31 December 1915, or for service in any theatre between 5 August 1914 and 31 December 1915.

He was awarded the British War Medal for serving in a theatre of war, or rendered service overseas between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918.

He was awarded the Victory Medal for service in any operational theatre between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918. It was issued to individuals who received the 1914 and 1914-15 Stars and to most individuals who were issued the British War Medal.
